Present tense for describing Ramadan/Eid customs (general truths): يصوم المسلمون في رمضان (Muslims fast in Ramadan). Past tense for personal experience: صُمتُ لأوَّل مرَّة عندما كنت في السابعة (I fasted for the first time when I was seven). Passive in cultural descriptions: يُزَيَّن الشارع بالفوانيس (the street is decorated with lanterns). يُتَبادَل (is exchanged — Form VI passive): تُتَبادَل التهاني والهدايا (congratulations and gifts are exchanged).
