Reading strategy: past tense verb clusters (فعَل، فعَلت، فعَلنا، فعَلوا) signal: a personal account, biography, event report, or narrative text. Past time expressions (أمس، الأسبوع الماضي، في العام الماضي) are the reading equivalent of the suffixes — they confirm past tense context. Gap-fill: tense choice is the primary criterion for Paper 2 Q4 when the text is a past narrative.
